Confusingly, the village is alternatively known as Little Stonham e.g. for postal addresses. As far as we know, this is simply a matter of whether you like the village’s name in Latin (“Parva”) or English (“Little” being the translation of the Latin word). The name Stonham apparently means “stony ground”
