Dear Resident,
A14 Works – Junction 42 - 47
Highways England operates, maintains and modernises the strategic road network in the East of England. We are committed to making journeys more reliable and ensuring that the region’s roads are fit for now and for the future.
We are pleased to inform you that the following works are due to start shortly.
• Road surface improvements • Refreshment of road markings, studs and signs
The work is planned to start on Monday 23 September 2019 and is programmed to take approximately 3 weeks. Please note that these works are subject to weather conditions and dates may change, notices onsite will provide the most up to date information. Should there be a requirement to significantly re-programme the work, a further notification will be issued.
These road improvements are necessary to maintain the strategic road network along the A14. This will add benefits such as a better road surface, safety improvements and an improved journey for our customers.
Traffic restrictions
We are aware the affect traffic disruption has on our customers and the local community and will only be diverting traffic onto local roads when absolutely necessary. Where we do need to close the A14 and divert traffic, we closely consult with the local authority to agree the most appropriate route and timings. There will be times on this scheme when no visible works are taking place. This is due to us having to wait for surfacing courses to finish cooling so that further work can take place.
Come along and enjoy a Live Well, Love Life Event Friday 20 September 2019, at Stowmarket Rookery Bowls Club hosted by Stowmarket Dementia Action Alliance
The day starts at 10am until 3pm.
If you would like to come along please add your name via Eventbrite or email: Fiona.palmer@bsevc.co.uk

A14 Works – Junction 37 - 40
Highways England is undertaking necessary improvement works on the A14 between junction 37 and junction 40 to resurface the carriageway and replace road markings and studs.
These road improvements are necessary to maintain the strategic road network along the A14. These safety improvements will add benefits such as a better road surface and an improved journey for road users.
The work is planned to start on Wednesday 11 September for approximately 3 weeks and will require overnight closures of the A14 between the hours of 8pm and 6am on weekdays only.
Traffic Restrictions
In order to minimise the impact on local communities and road users, we will only divert traffic onto local roads when absolutely necessary. We have consulted closely with Suffolk County Council to agree the most appropriate diversion route, which is highlighted on the enclosed map. Access for emergency vehicles will be allowed at all times.
The following road closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am on weekdays only.
• Closure of the A14 eastbound junction 37 entry and exit slips from Friday 13 September to Thursday 19 September (Diagram A & B) • Closure of the A14 eastbound between junction 38 and junction 43 from Tuesday 24 September and Tuesday 1 October (Diagram C)
This scheme will also require eastbound lane closures along the A14 throughout the duration of the works.
Due to the nature of the work being carried out some noise and light disturbance is unavoidable. We will however attempt to keep this to a minimum.
Please note that these works are subject to weather conditions and dates may change. Notices onsite will provide the most up to date information. Should there be a requirement to significantly re-programme the work, a further notification will be issued.
