Stonham Parva Village

Little Stonham, also known as Stonham Parva, is a village and civil parish in the Mid Suffolk district of Suffolk in eastern England. Located just off the A140, around three miles east of Stowmarket, in 2010 its population was 350. The parish includes the following roads

Church Lane

Clockhouse Lane

Debenham Road

Lambeth Way

Mendlesham Green Road

Mowness Hall Lane

Norwich Road

Pains Hill

Confusingly, the village is alternatively known as Little Stonham e.g. for postal addresses. As far as we know, this is simply a matter of whether you like the village’s name in Latin (“Parva”) or English (“Little” being the translation of the Latin word). The name Stonham apparently means “stony ground”
